The Reality vs Fairy Tale

Everything was going really until I heard the news that one of my group members left us because of some medical problem. Unfortunately, she is responsible for our main character, and she may be the one who needed to work on intonation of lines and expressing her emotion most as Ti Moune who is our main character. I hope that she can stay strong and healthy, and will fortunately join us in a short period of time. Up to now, our group has formed a stable combination with suitable amount of characters and lines. Therefore, we can not afford the loss of our group member.

Besides this defect, our group did a flawless job on pumping up creative ideas and compose scripts. For example, the main purpose of our play is to combine the story of Little Red Riding Hood and  My Love My Love to show the cruelness of the reality compared to the fairy tale. In that case, to fit in the Little Red Riding Hood story we make Papa Ge control daniel to reemerge the scene in the Little Red Riding Hood story which the big bad wolf pretend to be the grandma of little red hood. After Papa Ge control Daniel he will stay behind Daniel and speak for him while Daniel’s actor is acting which is like a two-man comic show. In the story Ti Moune represent little red hood, Papa Ge represent big bad wolf, Daniel represent  grandma, and Ezurile represent people who help little red hood in the story. Although those story share a lot of similarity, in order to show the cruelness of reality Ti Moune failed her dream of accompany Daniel, daniel fall in love with another women. These ideas help our group to make the play much more creative and entertaining.

Our group is energetic all the time, we always have huge discussions on every detail of the play. We discuss about every tiny movements in the play, and  we have our unique ideas and opinions. When these ideas collide they will fuse to help us to improve play, because the more we discuss about the detail of the emotions and movements the more realistic the play will be. I am very grateful about how our group members really involve themselves into the play. However, our group is not yet perfect. Memorizing our lines is the biggest problem we are facing. Without the lines being memorized, we can not express our emotion and improve our body language because our eyes are driven by the script. It is a huge limit for our group to improve our acting skills, and we are going to working on that from now on. Nonetheless, from watching Ben playing music to accompany for they play, I think that music should also be an important element for our play. Music can help actors to express their feeling and create variety of atmosphere we need for different kinds of the scenes. For example, audience can understand better what is going on when we play a sad music for the scene where Ti Moune failed her dream. THerefore, finding the most suitable music for our play is another thing I am going to work on.

As you can see, our school are doing a good job on making our own vision of play of the story My Love My Love to show the difference between reality and fairy tale. ALthough, we have tons of things needed to be improved, we believe that we can form a terrific play!
